Oxford Debate on Human Rights Day

W dniu 10.12.2021 roku w rocznicę podpisania Deklaracji Praw Człowieka (Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948.12.10) w naszej szkole odbyła się debata dotycząca praw człowieka, ich znaczenia i poszanowania.
W szczególności dotyczyła ona dyskryminacji, tej w wymiarze narodowym, społecznym, jak również tej która bezpośrednio może nas dotykać w naszych małych, codziennych środowiskach.

Debata miała na celu zwrócenie uwagi młodzieży na problemy z jakimi może borykać się ich rówieśnik, ale również wskazać skąd uprzedzenia mogą wynikać i jak głęboko mogą być w nas zakorzenione. Jak uwarunkowania historyczne czy polityczne mogą siedzieć w nas przez pokolenia i nie pozwolić nam na pełne szacunku I zrozumienia myślenie o drugim człowieku.

Organizacja takiej debaty miała też na celu dać młodym ludziom szansę wypowiedzenia się i oswojenia z bardzo wymagającą sztuką jaką jest sztuka dyskusji.

Za moderowanie powyższego panelu dyskusyjnego odpowiedzialny był Maksymilian Grzywna – przewodniczący samorządu szkolnego. Uczestnikami były klasy siódme, ósme oraz klasy licealne.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on 10 December 1948. Its adoption recognized human rights to be the foundation for freedom, justice, and peace.
In recognition of the milestone document, our school held a debate on human rights, their importance and protection on 10 December 2021. It concerned discrimination in the national and social dimensions.

The debate was aimed at drawing young people's attention to the problems that their peers may have to deal with and to indicate where prejudices may come from and how deeply they can be rooted in us. Furthermore, students discussed how historical or political conditions can prevent us from thinking about other people in a respectful way.

The debate was also intended to give young people a chance to express themselves and familiarize themselves with the very demanding art of discussion.

Maksymilian Grzywna - the chairman of the Student Council was responsible for moderating the debate. The participants included Years 7 and 8 and our high school students.
